“In my open hand I hold a key that keeps appearing and disappearing.”
Every child has such a key of dreaming, and as a parent, you can support your child to truly see the key and find the door that it opens. Through dreaming, your child enters the inner resources of self-trust, resilience and problem solving. In a playful, active way your child learns to respond to fear with courage, resolve friendship challenges and step into their unique perspective of life.
In our DYW Kids® program we find that when parents engage with children with their dreams they grow closer together – it’s a “secret language” and children are excited to speak it to their parents. This introduction workshop gives you a window into this secret dreaming language. You’ll learn how to share this visual dialogue, support your child in their inner exploration, and learn how dreaming with your child can open out new spaces of intimacy for the whole family. Talking about dreams brings whole families together, with dream sharing time replacing technology-filled ones, like at breakfast or dinner. Because dreams are aimed at aiding our development, each family member begins to untangle inner knots and discover hidden potentials.
For parents who attended the first, very successful introductory workshop, this second workshop deepens your understanding of the secret dreaming language of your child. For both new and seasoned parents, you will learn how to playfully engage in this visual dialogue, and how it can open out new spaces of intimacy for the whole family. It is a practice-based, experiential journey where we work with kids’ dreams and explore ways of turning them into whole-family activities.
