Requirement: Dream Group Leader certification
Young dreamers need the support of the adult mentors in their lives. A DYW Kids® Mentor certificate allows you to focus your dreamwork toward youth. You receive training in tailoring the basic foundations of dreaming toward young people of various ages, and learn how to facilitate the transformation of nightmares and blocks in their dreams. Training will include learning how to turn transformations into group activities using specific tools aimed at young dreamers, among other skills. Along the way you will deepen your own relationship with dreaming.
DYW Kids Adult Mentors become certified to:
- Form and lead youth dream groups
- Form and lead youth dream workshops
- Use dreaming and dream-based activities in group and individual work with youth
- Create developmentally appropriate activities for youth development
The certification is aimed at those who have an existing professional practice working with youth such as educators, psychologists and creative professionals. The certification process is a deeper learning experience for you as an individual practitioner in your own development, as well as in application to your specific field of practice.
This certification requires continuing education units each three years to maintain the certification. These requirements are paid for on a class-by-class or semester-by-semester basis.
This certification can be paid for on a semester-by-semester basis. If you would like to be set up on a payment plan, or have any questions please email us.
DYW Kids® Adult Mentor Certification Requirements
Requirement: Dream Group Leader certification
All trainees entering the certification program work closely with the Director of Programming to help determine the best classes to choose, the order in which to choose them, and to overall discuss the process and answer any questions that arise. Throughout the process trainees are in close contact with both the Director of Programming as well as other practitioners at the Institute.

DYW Kids ® Capstone ****
5 classes total ($2250) + individual sessions ($200 USD/session = $2000) + Supervision (450) + Capstone ($450)***
Total $5150
* Foundations I and II is a mix of both didactic teaching of the principles underlying the dreamwork and work with original imagery exercises written by trainees during the course. All trainees are expected to write exercises on a weekly basis. Exercises are discussed as a group in class. Each trainee will get to hone their exercises after the discussion with the idea that each trainee will complete the class with a minimum of one original two-hour imagery class ready for them to practice delivering, either as part of their Capstone or upon receiving certification. Foundations is taken towards the end of the training.
** DYW Kids ® Supervision is taken at the end of the training process; it is assumed that as this point the trainee will be working with youth in some capacity and Supervision allows both trainee and the Institute to identify and develop any areas that need additional support. The class consists of group meetings over the three semesters that constitute the Institute’s school year. One year of Supervision = 1x/month group meeting with 10 meetings total.
*** Individual sessions: Before becoming certified, trainees are required to have individual sessions with a certified practitioner. The minimum number of sessions required is 10; overall, the number of sessions needed is determined by the trainee’s movement through the work. The Institute is focused on inner development; in training practitioners we feel that before one can become a practitioner to help others one must first clear oneself. While all work through the Institute provides opportunities for the student to do self-work, individual sessions offer private moments and exercises to address specific, individual needs of the trainee. Thus, the trainee and the certified practitioner with whom they do their individual sessions may decide to include additional 1:1 sessions. Any added individual sessions will be charged at the $200/session rate.
**** Capstone work is determined by the trainee and the DYW Kids® Director. In most cases, the Capstone consists of the supervised leading of a DYW Kids ® workshop. The aim of the Capstone is to show that the trainee has learned the work and integrated it at a level of application in an applicable setting.
